My deep interest in the healing arts grew out of my own personal chronic health challenges as a child. As my health journey paralleled my interest in spiritual practice, I trained as a young adult in classical Ashtanga yoga, qigong, Vipassana, Daoist and Zen Buddhist practice before seeking advanced studies in classical Chinese herbal medicine, classical Neijing acupuncture, Japanese meridian therapy, tuina, shiatsu, sotai, contemporary Chinese pulse diagnosis, Japanese moxibustion, five-element acupuncture, western herbal medicine, and gemmotherapy (phyto-nutrient therapy). These were supported by personal practice in various schools of qigong and internal martial arts including Yin-style baguazhang, Yang-style taijiquan, Chen-style taijiquan, and liuhebafaquan. Recent studies include Anthroposophy and Anthroposophic medicine, men’s work and twelve-step recovery.
Completing the three-year Alexander Technique Teacher Training in 2013 allowed me to begin teaching patients and students a skill that not only has great potential for healing chronic pain and illness but also for develop peak performance and greatly refined my skills, technique and sensitivity in all of my work and practices. Similarly, my practice of equine therapeutics further developed such skills and I now practice equine acupuncture, manual therapies, acupressure, bodywork and massage.
With fifteen years of clinical practice and twenty years of teaching experience serving as college faculty and clinical supervisor, I have worked in diverse clinical settings including addictions and recovery centers, a women’s health and fertility integrative health clinic, cancer group treatment centers, a homeless youth center, a university student health clinic and in general practice. I’ve developed specialization in the treatment of women’s and men’s health, fertility, digestive disorders, sleep disorders, addictions and recovery, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, chronic inflammatory conditions, sports medicine, pediatrics, hormonal health, pregnancy and postpartum care, menopause, environmental illnesses, medical and pharmaceutical injury, autoimmune conditions, chronic and acute infections, and neurological disorders.
